Does Advertising Really Work?

Alice really blew us away at dinner tonight....

Alice, out of nowhere: "The cleaning wipes are now stronger and bigger"

Beth & Lach: "Ummm, what's that sweetie?"

Alice, earnestly: "The cleaning wipes are now stronger and bigger. They clean like you never knew they could."

This from a 3 year old who gets to watch about 1 hour of TV a day (PBS & Nickelodeon). I have no idea what the national average is, but I suspect it is much higher than 1 hour, and I wonder what those kids can tell you about cleaning wipes?!?!

Unfortunately, tv has become part of Alice's morning routine when Sam goes to take his nap. Thus, Alice starts suggesting that Sam is tired and ready for his nap as soon as she finishes her breakfast. Secondly, Alice is pretty upset if she doesn't get her daily dose, and will on those days announce something in the middle of the afternoon like, "Oh no Mommy! We forgot to watch tv!"

A few other Alice updates - she is still interested in Dora & Diego, but Word World, Super Why, and the Disney Princesses (Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty) are starting to creep in and get more attention. Still loves dinosaurs and can tell you lots about them. Big interest in ballet and swimming now that she is having lessons in both. Her favorite color is purple, favorite animal is a giraffe, and her favorite fruit is "all of them". When she grows up she wants to be "A doctor, a movie-writer, and a ballet teacher".

Heading to ballet class this morning. Fireman's hat, Belle necklace, rainboots. She got quite a few happy grins from folks as we walked from the car to the studio.
