Wednesday in DC

Sam goofing around an exhibit at the American Indian museum.

Alice working on a beaded bracelet.

Sam and the twins play king of the mountain

Alice plays buffalo

Copycat Sam plays buffalo

A herd of wild buffalo!!

Canoes in the lobby... right before Sam managed to hoist himself actually up and IN to the canoe. Which the museum supervisor did not appreciate. Evidently they are "art" and not to be touched.

Later that afternoon.....

Alice and I went on a tour of the Capitol! The nifty subway we took to get there.

The Freedom statue replica from the top of the dome

The rotunda of the Capitol - pretty empty on a rainy, August, recess afternoon

Alice and me with Mr Lincoln, although she was more interested in the depictions of Pocahontas.

Looking up at the dome

Pretty cool, eh?

In the Capitol, the star marking the dead center of the Washington street grid. Alice asked, "This is the center and they built a building over it?"

Alice and our private tour guide, Joe the intern!
