The Journey

Leaving Chicago - 2 excited kids, 2 small carry-ons.

7 hours of sleeping on the 15 hour flight. Sam tested the theory that if you watch too much TV your brain will turn to mush. He found this to be false.

CLY this would freak you out! This picture is not a video game. This is our plane landing in Sydney! Our A380 had a camera on the tail of the plane so you could use the in-flight entertainment system to see what was happening outside the plane. It was a totally BIZARRE feeling.

Arriving in Sydney. 2 tired kids, 4 carry-ons, a camera bag, 2 large suitcases, 1 small suitcase, a duffel, a car seat and a booster.  Sam sat down on the floor and SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER in baggage claim because he wanted to hold a water bottle.  A lovely customs woman came over and stamped us to go through express check-in  : )


8 a.m. Stopped for some breakfast and Vegemite toast at an outdoor cafe

8:30 a.m. run on the beach to get acclimated! We got a lot of funny looks: Palm Sunday, mother with American accent, kids playing on the beach in clothes.

Alice had a great sense of humor about it when she finally fell over in the water and was soaked.

Thus, a roadside change of clothes before we went to the house to say hello to Auntie Bec and Pa!

Then off to the playground to try and keep the kids awake.

Not a bad view either. Driving home from the park Sam said, "I'm a yid-dle tired". Really? Tired? Just because it is now midnight Sunday night at home?

Then back home for tickles with Auntie Bec

And a quick hello to cousin Lexy (18 mos)

We made dinner and Sam literally fell asleep sitting at the dinner table. 6 p.m. Sydney time, 3 a.m. Chicago time. Alice was close behind him. So the kids were real troopers to make it that long on only 7 hrs of uncomfortable sleep from the night before!
