Father's Day

Father's Day!  A day to let Daddy sleep in an extra hour and then practice waking him up in a nice way, instead of the usual way (jumping on his chest and turning on the lights).   Alice & Sam were super excited to make Daddy breakfast-in-bed.   It was a fascinating concept.  First time they had seen it.  They promptly sat down with Daddy and ate most of his bacon and toast.  Sam then requested that he be served dinner in bed, as well  (minor details like breakfast vs dinner are still getting confused).

Daddy claims to know how to play chess, so Alice got him a chess board.  And got herself a book about chess for children.  We'll see who's better soon enough.

Ah, the quarterly moment to take a photo with the 4 of us together...

Our friend Sarah started the tradition and usually hosts the neighborhood Father's Day dinner, but to help her out it was relocated to our house this year.  Seating for 15 on our deck -

Kids, Dads and families arrived.

Many happy adults enjoying an international potluck feast.

And then it was time for the white elephant gift exchange.

Daddy got a 6-pack of beer.  Rick got Flash Gordon underwear.  That worked out well.

And Daddy got 2 beautiful decoupage photo frames handcrafted by his children.  Hugs and kisses for Daddy!  We love you!
