Frequently when I pick up Sam from school he will show me a "Treasure" (his word) he found. Usually he finds the treasures when the class goes to the park or for a walk around the block. Sam finds the treasure and stores it in his shoe until he can show it to me, sometimes to the point of impairing his walking. The teacher told me one day she thought Sam wasn't feeling well at the playground. Oh no, it was just all the contraband stored in his shoes that was slowing him down!
A list of what Sam has collected so far:
- a penny (from a tree?)
- 2 small red beads
- a house key
- a red fire hat eraser
- a black spider ring
- 2 small yellow flippers
- 4 black sock hangers
- a $25 VISA gift card (uncertain whether it is real or mock)
Maybe Sam has a future career as a smuggler?

Charlie used to do the same thing - although she would store her treasures in her sock!
