Christmas Time Adventure in Chicago

Dad taking the week off work freed us up to do some special activities. Like riding the L downtown together Wednesday to look at the Macy's decorated windows. And stroll through the new luxury pedway underground. And get yummy hot chocolate at Argo Tea. And quickly browse through the darling Christkrindlmarket in Daley plaza while being pelted with freezing rain so painful it stings as it hits in 30-mile-an-hour winds and freezing cold....
Alice didn't want to wear her Santa hat because she was afraid that people might laugh at her. (Humiliation or embarrassment of any kind is a frequent source of anxiety for Alice) Instead she chose to wear her fuzzy purple hat, that some might be concerned is actually more laugh-worthy than a Santa hat. But instead a lady on the street actually complimented her hat in front of Macy's. Shows what her parents know about fashion.

I asked Alice on the train ride home if she had fun. A: "No Mommy, no, it was terrible." Me: "Really? You didn't have fun?" A: "No! That baby hail hitting us was horrible!" Ok, she's right, the hail part was pretty horrible. And I guess whatever happens last decides the verdict on the whole event.
