Last week of summer

Our last week of summer was crazy-busy!!  It was catch-up from being gone on vacation, errands to get ready for back-to-school, and an avalanche of last minute fun stuff that we wanted to squeeze in to Summer 2011!  (and then didn't have time to throw on the blog until today!)

Saturday:

After the back-to-school picnic we brought Chloe home for a playdate.  Crazy girl fun!

Sunday:

We went to the Kane County Cougars baseball game.

The kids had a blast and the whole event was so much easier to navigate than a MLB game!  Face painters, jumpy houses, premium parking, 7th row seats, and going out on the field to run the bases after the game!  (for any of you Chicagoans with kids, this is going on my list of "highly recommend!")

That evening the kids (and Spiderman) had fun doing bike races with Colin.

And drawing an elaborate Cars track!

Monday:

Our first excursion to Lego Land

R2D2 and Darth Vader are made entirely of Lego!

Sam had a great time designing and racing cars

Tuesday:

After a day in Lincoln Square and a trip to the Doctor, we had some guests for dinner.  Alice asked for a chance to hold baby Waylon!

Wednesday:

Downtown to visit Daddy!

Like father, like son.

Then over to Navy Pier

We rode the giant ferris wheel, the carousel, and drove the remote boats

And saw Cirque Shanghai (the motorcycles were Sam's favorite, of course!)

Thursday:

Bummer.  No photos from our beach morning.  Or Sam's much needed haircut!

Friday:

A 90+ degree day was a perfect last day at the pool.

Saturday:

Lach and Alice were off to Great America for a day of fun and reward.  Alice participated in the St. Jude "Math-a-thon" during the school year and earned herself a free ticket to Six Flags, so we wanted to be sure and let her redeem it.  First time on a roller coaster - immediate repeat!

And then over to Simmons for some BBQ action and the kick-off to Sam's birthday celebration.   Sam's face says JOY to me!  Look at that excitement!

 

A great playdate with Michael was the wrap-up to an excellent, exhausting, jam-packed, action-filled week!  Now all we have to do is a 4th birthday and start school!
